Video taken in the New Mexico Manzano Mountains @ 6200 FT, Mar. 25, 2009 with temps in the mid 50’s and windy!! sorry about the wind exposed mic….but this is a REAL field test demonstration recorded in a real life camping/backpacking environment…not just someones back yard, garage, or parking lot……. In other words: “This is the REAL DEAL IN THE RAW!” This is my 1st You-Tube video!

I thought it was kind of funny. He has like the best ultralight cook set in the world costing a few hundred dollars, then he has the fold out chair.

Kind of like buying a sports car and pulling a trailer with it.

  4. Thanks for the comment. I did this demonstration with some friends of mine who brought camp chairs for a weekend overnight “car camping” trip. We were NOT backpacking, however, we backpack this area often. No plastic bags were lost during this trip as I always “pack it in, pack it out” and I personally would never bring a camp chair for a backpacking trip!

  5. Not to be a dick but you have an ultra-light cookset but you also brought along a camp chair? Try to leave those plastic bags at home next time, especially with that kind of wind.

  6. I get the grit too. Usually on the threads of the cap and container. I just use the bandanna to clean the threads from time to time so the gritty build up does’nt get out of hand. I also cover or stuff the container with the bandanna and then blow around the threads to remove the grit without blowing any salt or pepper out.

  11. Thanx for the Thanks! Next time I will place a band-aid over the mic to filter out the wind. Believe it or not… it actually works!!

This compact cooking kit setup also works very well with a Trangia alcohol stove.

  13. Very nice set up! Very breezy as you can hear it though out the video. Great mess kit to take back packing or on the normal camping trip. Small compact and it holds all the basics. Spoon, fork, stove, salt, pepper, and it also contains cups within the kit!

    Thanks for the video, awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
